Anthony Willey offers full service piano tuning and repair in King County, bringing over 20 years of experience and training in piano technology. A standard service visit includes a full tuning plus any needed pitch corrections, minor repairs, cleaning, or regulation. Anthony is a Registered Piano Technician with the Piano Technicians Guild, meaning he has passed a series of rigorous examinations on the maintenance, repair, and tuning of pianos. Anthony also holds a Masters degree in physics, and has 25 years of experience as a classical musician. He understands how the piano works and is happy to answer any questions you might have.

SERVICES

Tuning

A full tuning includes everything needed to get a piano in tune and working, which may include a “pitch raise” and/or minor repairs, such as fixing sticky keys misaligned hammers, and annoying buzzes.

Regulation

Making sure the parts of the piano work together properly. This will improve the feel of the piano, increase control and response, and eliminate problems like double-hitting hammers, non-working dampers, sticking keys, etc.

Repairs

This can involve fixing or replacing anything that is broken or missing, including key ivories, pedals, screws, hammers, strings, keys, action parts, hinges, knobs, et.

Refurbishment

Includes replacing old worn felt, replacing hinge pins for hammers and action parts, replacing hammers or dampers, installing new keytops, restringing, etc.

Voicing

Modifying a piano’s hammers to achieve a better tone (often via softening the felt or reshaping the hammers).

I own two pianos, a baby grand and an upright, and I have used several piano tuners but finally settled on Anthony Willey. His skill is equal to the most expensive piano tuners, but his price is much more affordable. He was able to fix an annoying buzz in one of the strings of my piano, which had not been fixed by any other tuner, and he did a beautiful cleaning job on the inside of my piano at no extra charge to me. Mr. Willey also works with a smile on his face and is of such a pleasant nature that having him come to my house to tune my pianos is a treat! I have several small children who love to buzz around any guest who enters our home (including repairmen), and Anthony was patient, tolerant, and kind to them even though I know they were in his way. With other tuners, trying to keep my children "out of the piano tuner's way" has sometimes been a stressful experience.
